What a morning! I shuffled as usual into the kitchen, grabbed my first cup of coffee, and turned on the TV.
Switching over to CNN International I anticipated an entertaining fix of Richard Quest’s hyperactivity. Does everyone know who Richard is? Yes, well. We never know where in the world Richard has been sent to, do we? Last time I saw him, he was touring the custom designed interior of the travelling CNN political election bus here in the US. It was quite incredible that anyone could become so ‘jumping for joy’ excited about a bus. Leave it to Richard to frolic, and wake you up in the morning. His booming voice works quicker than the caffeine in my cup.
Anyhow. I had just headed for a second cup, when a breaking news story so rudely interrupted Richard. Just a tad bit irritated, I sat down to see what the whole, ‘who-do’ was about. Quite comical, really. You see there was a madman loose at Gatwick Airport. Some masked nut was running around on the landing field, holding up all air traffic. Sirens filled the background, and not a soul seemed to have control of the situation. Rather amused, and no longer irritated, I followed along with the development. The crazy lad was an unknown individual. Ha! No wonder with that mask on.
That’s when it hit me. There was something peculiar about the whole thing. There was something oddly familiar about that poor man gone crazy. I had to lean in for a closer look as he ran by the cameras. Could it be? Well, it could be. After all, He does work at Gatwick. Was it? Surely it was not. By George, it was!
What did I do? I did what any good citizen would do. I grabbed my phone, and after five transfers I was finally directed to the correct officials. I exclaimed on the phone that I KNEW who this man was!
It was poor, poor, Sy!
As I talked on the phone, and held my eye on the TV at the same time, I saw that he was being led away by ambulance drivers. Goodness! I began a search on the Web right away, knowing that it wouldn’t take long before this story hit the written press. Sure enough I found it! Here is the link to the whole descriptive mess about Sy, and his bout of insanity;
